Clarus Site Solutions is delighted to be working with Sacyr Farrans Neopul and the City of Edinburgh Council to deliver the communications infrastructure for The Edinburgh Trams to Newhaven project, which was granted construction approval in November 2019.

Background: The Trams to Newhaven project will connect Leith and Newhaven to the existing tram line at York Place, Edinburgh. With eight new stops, this will improve travel infrastructure for residents, alongside bus services as well as improved walking and cycling routes.

Solution: Dual Network 4G solution for over 200 users, fully networked with hardwired data points, wifi connectivity and VoIP phones. One of our largest projects, the sites were planning to have fibre installed but have decided to stay on 4G, as it works so well, with a plan to migrate to 5G soon. This is particularly important due to the restrictions of COVID-19, which has stalled the possibility of fixed-line fibre installations. Our solution ensures full business continuity for the project team.

The project is expected to run until 2023, with passenger services timetabled to begin in Spring 2023.
